Lighting Retrofits & Replacements
A lighting retrofit consists of replacing components in the system with counterparts that use energy more efficiently. A lighting upgrade is any strategy that reduces the system's energy use. In office and commercial facilities, older T12 fluorescent systems can be retrofitted to energy-efficient T8 systems.
Effective July 1, 2010 – Ballast manufacturers can no longer sell magnetic ballasts.
In industrial and commercial facilities, metal halide or high pressure sodium fixtures can be replaced with either T8 or T5 fluorescent systems depending on the application.
